Parcel delivery to Germany

We work with the best in each market, so since 2013, our primary partner in delivering shipments to Germany has been companies of the DHL Deutsche Post AG group.

The Largest Network and Exclusive Operator of Parcel Machines.

DHL is the true market leader in Germany. The DHL Deutsche Post AG group has the largest courier and postal network, as well as the densest network of postal outlets, parcel machines, and parcel collection points. The total number of DHL alternative pickup points, including parcel machines, exceeds 30,000, compared to about 6,000 for DPD and about 5,000 for GLS. DHL is the dominant parcel machine operator. Recipients can pick up parcels at more than 2,600 Packstation locations throughout Germany.

In addition to having the largest network of pick-up points, DHL also boasts the largest network of couriers, resulting in a 42.5% share of the courier services market in Germany (for comparison: DPD 18%, UPS 17%, Hermes 12%, and GLS 9%). It is no coincidence that DHL is also Amazon’s primary partner for FBA deliveries, with Amazon being its largest client (17.6% of shipments handled by DHL are commissioned by Amazon’s logistics centers).

DHL Parcel International

The two core services for e-commerce are DHL Paket for domestic shipments (within Germany) and DHL International for international shipments sent from Germany. Standard features include tracking from Germany, insurance up to 500 EUR, next-day delivery (90% of the time), and Saturday delivery at no extra charge. DHL Paket International shipments are delivered to other countries within 2-5 business days through the local DHL branch or the largest postal operator in the respective country.

Letter and merchandise shipment

Letters are a popular method for delivering small and inexpensive items. While in Poland it is common to send shipments as registered mail, this is rarely the case in Germany. Registered mail is typically used for important correspondence from government offices or courts and is very seldom used for e-commerce deliveries.

Maximum of 120 cm and No Stretch Film.

Maintaining the highest quality of logistics services imposes certain limitations. DHL handles the largest standard parcels on the market (volume of 360 liters), but the maximum length of the longest side is limited to 120 cm. Additionally, shipments cannot be wrapped in stretch film and must have a standard rectangular shape. If your shipments cannot meet these conditions, we alternatively offer solutions from other carriers, particularly GLS.
